We live in the future. Electricity captured in a tube. Not as long lasting as Duracell but good enough.
But these kayak lights will only be used when we are out on the water after dark, which is not likely to happen more than once a month. Alkaline batteries just can't be beat for shelf life, and while they will be powering those lights this time next year, NiMH batteries would have to be charged before every outing because they drain themselves when not in use. I bought this package because it was perfect for my immediate needs - I had just bought 2 bow lights and 2 stern lights for 2 kayaks, which required a grand total of 16 AA batteries to operate.I never use alkaline batteries unless I absolutely have to - I really try to stick with the NiMH batteries where they make sense, in high-drain electronics or items that will be used immediately. And they're LED based, so they'll probably last a year or more on a single set of batteries.
The batteries didn't come in the blister pack shown in the image, but they did come in 4 small genuine Energizer cardboard boxes. Did a Google search for a 16 pack of AA batteries and found this deal. I'm not sure if that affects shelf-life, but I guess I'll find out.
This was a real bargain and very fast service. I will buy from this seller again.
The local store usually runs about $.70 per battery or less when purchased in bulk (more than 4). At the current Amazon price ($13.95), that comes out to about $.85 per battery. If you are ordering for convenience fine. However, the price is a bit above average. They are Energizer and the brand certainly meets everyone's expectations. Not much to say about the batteries. My batteries were received and the date on the package was well in advance, so no complaints here. But if you want the best deal, you will likely need to go to your local discount store.
